WHERE IS OUR LEADERSHIP?

Date added: Saturday 30th May 2009 written by

I have not been one to stand up and shout, unless it is because of catastrophic happenings or circumstances as you my dear friends know so well, but today after speaking to a good friend of mine on facebook I feel I must start to do this more vigorously, for truth and for justice as I have always said since the loss of my grandson Daniel.

I have been prompted so to do by recent revelations in the media, and many will say the media tends to exploit and glorify things in the public domain and interest, but if it wasn’t for the media one has to wonder what we the public would ever learn from, or about our elected masters in the hallowed halls of Westminster and Parliament.

I remember the words of a Government minister not so long ago who said NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO BURY BAD NEWS!

However, some bad news just refuses to be buried and will keep on popping up out of the ground like dashles, and if perhaps you wonder what such a Devonshire word means, it’s a hard leafed prickly weed that grows in many fields in the countryside and is a constant parasitic weed that will choke a lush green meadow, and it will eventually choke the grass that is harvested to make hay for the lean years of winter. It will keep on spreading if it’s not kept in check by strong weed killer and sometimes they have to be dug out and destroyed by hand.

Like most of us I am sure, my friend feels incensed and angry about the revelations of misuse of parliamentary privilege, and funding of MP’s expenses from the public purse and rightly so, because it affects each of us as individuals and as families today and our children for years to come if the world financial experts are correct in their predictions. So forceful is my friends feelings that she has been accused of holding a misguided political rant and should stop it.

A misguided political rant? a political rant this is not, it is someone who has the guts to speak out, and has the right to be heard, just like YOU!. The only ones who unfortunately are misguided have been us the public, misguided by those who we have trusted and elected to the halls of Westminster to be OUR voice, it is the British Public who have been betrayed by these money grabbing termites who have no idea how we the public live, and those who have given so many sacrifices over the years for our country and its people.

Certainly not the politicians in their ivory towers, second and even third homes not the dare I say leaders of this country who have led us down a steep pathway to financial oblivion and a political wilderness. It’s rather funny isn’t it what money does to people and economies.

Who are these people who take us the public for granted,?  Who are they to know the trials and tribulations of those who make the sacrifices so they can cream off the best bits and leave the humble public to scavenge and scrape an existence.

THEY ARE THE ONES WE HAVE TRUSTED THE MOST.

And who are those who make the sacrifices? That enable this country to succeed, that enable our politicians to live a life of luxury that most of us can only dream of, unless we should win the lottery or perhaps have been born with a silver spoon in the mouth to start with.

These sacrificial lambs are the major industries, the companies who produce the items that we sell abroad, or to our country itself, the small businessman, the entrepreneur with their ideas, who put themselves at the front to help this country
prosper.

But who else is there? What other sacrificial lambs are put on the block of ill conceived plans, ill thought out actions?

WHO ELSE? YOU AND I MY FRIENDS, YOU AND I. The very small cogs in the big machine of the United Kingdom, the men and women who have learnt the skills of the job they are in, or should I say were in.It is all well and good to use high falluting words in Parliament but words mean nothing if not backed up by strong resourceful actions, well thought out actions for the common good of all.

As so many people do on facebook, we write on our friends walls, so too, right now, the writing is on the wall FOR OUR POLITICIONS OF ALL PARTIES!

The mood of this country is grim, the people are fed up with the way the political parties over the years have lead this country, none more so that this present Labour Government today and the mind boggles as to how much money has been wasted and abused over the years and no one can say that this misuse of tax payers money has only just begun in 2009.

In a letter sent to Gordon Brown, on his entering 10 Downing Street as our new Prime Minister I wrote these words, among others.

“Sir you have been left a legacy, a terrible legacy, made up of mistakes and ill thought out actions left by your predecessor, Tony Blair, now you have been given an opportunity, an opportunity to make changes, to make positive steps forward, and to lead this country as she cries out to be lead, not by a puppet pulled by the strings of a puppet master, who followed blindly at the sound of a two fingered whistle from the lips of the leader of a supposedly world superpower.

This country cries out to be lead, lead by a leader of integrity, who will speak for the people of this country, who will not be afraid to make a stand for truth and for justice, for these have two things have been sadly lacking so far in this last term of office of this Labour Government.

In your new brand of leadership you have the chance to shine, to light the fire in every British heart, as a beacon in the night, to which the people of this nation can come to, but I need to tell you, that if you follow the path that has been trodden very deeply in the ground of the United Kingdom by your predecessor, then that would be a grave error, both of your judgment, and your thinking.

The people of this nation will not be led like sheep, by a shepherd who has gone off the proven path of truth and honesty, for we can respect our political leaders if they indeed have that respect and honesty. But never, never expect the British people to just lie over and cover their eyes, or bury their heads in the sand if any political leader should be less than honest ever again.

This is your one and only chance to say it as it truly is, to calm the fears in the hearts of the people of this nation, who are sick and tired of being led astray and up the garden path in so many areas left by your predecessor.
Any Government, be it Labour, Conservative or Liberal Democrat, are put in power by the will of the people, for this is democracy in its truest form, and you Sir have been put in that place of office for a reason, to GOVERN, not by sleaze or

monumentous spin, nor for personal gain, be it for either monetary or social standing gain. You have been put there by the people, for the people, and the people will be heard, they expect the right decisions to be made, for our care and protection, and to prosper and benefit the country as a whole, for the good of all”.

It appears to me that those words have gone unheeded. This Government is now dead in the water brought to its knees by those actions I commented on. I think of one of our Prime Ministers in this country’s ot so distant history, one Margaret Thatcher, a Prime Minister not overly loved by many in this country its true, but her ideals would bode well at this present time in our history, one of her memorable speeches included this, THIS LADY IS NOT FOR TURNING!

Words that could be well used by whatever Government should befall us when the next election comes, which should be sooner rather than later.

Now more than ever this country needs strong leadership, from a Government who will not cringe from taking bold, forceful steps in bringing us out of this current mess we find ourselves in. There are those who will say that these are

world problems and we cant do anything about that, but that I disagree with, yes the whole world is in recession but if we

had, had the strong leadership like that of Margaret Thatcher I believe we as a country would have been more well prepared that it has been shown that we were.

Great Britain has always been a world leader when it comes to fighting for democratic rights and forward thinking on the world stage, but now we are a lost cause in the worlds eyes, there are no green shoots of recovery as many politicians delude themselves about and have spoken of, the respected IMF tells us that as does other intellectual institutions of note.

So where does that leave us as people, a proud and valued people? Financially and politically we are a destitute and rudderless country and when a vessel is rudderless in storm swelled seas that vessel is in grave danger from many enemies, the enemy within and the enemy without, each with its own dangers and as always waiting in the wings are the ultimate rocks of destruction.

Financially, as a country we have become far too dependant of the city and the banking structure, as has been seen in recent events which also seem to run in tandem with the disclosures of our MP’s expense claims, just like the majority of our MP’s, the banking fat cats have been milking the system with horrendous bonuses at the expense of the shareholders and investors.

Too, the captains of industry have also come under fire and have been exploited and buried under red tape and lack the support from Government especially now as they try to keep their respective companies going on an even keel and try their utmost to protect their crews who sail their vessel in today’s troubled waters, and don’t forget! YOU YOURSELVES ARE PART OF THOSE CREWS. Industry and commerce desperately need that support to survive in this recession, how else this government thinks they will find the taxes that keep the country going without our industry and commerce I do not know    .

The political arena we find ourselves in today is a minefield, never before, since the Second World War has our country felt so insecure, and this feeling of insecurity falls squarely on this, and previous Governments. Our borders have been thrown open and eroded under the guise of Europeanism. Ravenous wolves wait in the wings ever ready to grab any chance given, should our guard slip, to wreak havoc wherever they can in what ever scenario presents itself.

Terrorism stalks the streets of almost every country today, and this island is no exception, were it not for the vigilance of our many services including the secret service, all of whom are under funded, and over stretched we would be feeling far less safe and secure than we do now today, in our heightened state of security against an unseen and mostly unknown enemy, though our secret services are ever watchful 24/7 for our safety, but there is only so much they can do at any given time.

The front line defences of this country, our servicemen and women, are at the fore of all things in security and also in the front line when the axe of cut backs and corner cutting are wielded by a desperate Government intent on grasping at straws to find a way out of the morass they find themselves in.

Make no mistake, we are a country at war, maybe not as those old soldiers and those who remember the war years so long ago, but we are at war just the same, against hidden terrorism, crime, and most of all we are at war with ourselves, and there are those in our midst who hunger for this war to continue as it fits well with their plans for the future. A far fetched scenario you may say, but is it, Really?

TO BE CONTINUED.
