A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

Date added: Saturday 15th November 2008

AN INVITATION TO YOU!

We are holding a special Christmas party to support the families of our servicemen, this is being held at the Royal British Club in Cullompton on Saturday the 20th of December from 7.30pm, and there will be a disco, buffet and prize draw.

The tickets are £7.00 per person and are available from the Legion club or directly from David. For more details please email David at the usual email address. Visit the contact page for details.

This year, due to some constraints lain down by the MOD we are unable to do the same as we did last year when we asked our communities to help our servicemen by donating a gift which we could send out to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The MOD has requested that we curtail the amount of items that we send at this time of year as they are concerned that the supply chain will become clogged with excess parcels, the reasoning behind this request I do understand but I am very sad that we are not able to show our support for our guys and girls in this way.

HOWEVER!
All is not gloom and doom on the gift front. I have been in contact with Dan’s regiment the Rifles down here in Exeter. What we can do is raise actual cash funds from the party and the draw. This I can send directly to the Rifles in Exeter who will wire it out to the commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan, they will ask the guys what items they would like to receive and will then send out into the city to obtain them.

This has already been put into practice by the regiment in readiness, and I think it will work very well indeed in getting Christmas support to our boys and girls out there in theatre.

THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MY LOCAL COMMUNITY VISITORS TO THE SITE SOON. This will be something happening in our area between now and the end of December to bring a little bit of love and care directly to the families and children of our servicemen home alone here in the South West.
