IS THERE A CURE FOR THIS COUNTRIES ILLS?

Date added: Tuesday 21st October 2008 written by David Godfrey

There are so many things that I would like to share with you, to talk about, to shout about, to cry about. So much so, in fact that my head is spinning, almost as fast as a Government spin doctor. But he or she certainly has no cure for this countries ill or its many sorrows this last decade.

When sickness comes as it often does, and you have that awful feeling in your stomach that makes you want to urge but you can’t, you then have TWO choices. Take a pill and lie down, or FIGHT IT!! My old granny, God bless her, was one of the old school who believed in old wives tales, and used to say to my dear mum, put your two fingers back his throat and make him sick, even now the thought of that makes me sick today. Memories never die do they?

Today I also feel another sickness, a sickness in my heart, and tears flow like gentle rain for Daniel, and those Sons and daughters of the many families, who I have come to know as my family, who also have come to know me.

This sickness comes from the knowledge that our children, and our grandchildren, these sons and daughters of Great Britain, need not have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and those who have been so badly injured could still be walking unaided, if the sickness of lack of knowledge, and the blindness of understanding of past history and future events had been addressed and cured by certain leaders of Governments, both now and in the past.

I AND I am sure that you too will not let this sickness overcome us, I WILL NOT TAKE A PILL AND LIE DOWN! While this sickness and cancer pervades this countries heart and soul. I WILL FIGHT and I will take my old grannies words to my mum to my heart, when she suggested two fingers.

I will fight for truth and justice for our servicemen and women who have been injured; I will support and comfort those who like my family, have lost a loved one. As that honourable statesman and Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill said in the Second World War, “WE WILL FIGHT THEM ON THE BEACHES, and WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER. Wise and honourable words, from a great statesman and world leader of our countries t time.

As my gran said to my mum, to give me two fingers, so too do I say this, to this Governments leaders, I GIVE TO YOU TWO FINGERS! I WILL NEVER TAKE A PILL AND LIE DOWN; I WILL NEVER SURRENDER THE FIGHT AGAINST INJUSTICE! And I will fight for truth and justice, for the people of this country and our servicemen and women and their families while so many of our Brave Hearts are being lost and wounded for no perceived or just cause.

I also say this, to this current Government, listen to the heart that beats within this Nation, and feel the pulse that is coursing through your countries veins. For each heartbeat is a cry, a cry from those souls who once made this country great, and who did so much to make Britain what it is today, and it is also a cry from the souls of today’s lost heroes, and those left behind, the families who grieve, our wounded servicemen and women, and our brave hearts in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere. It is such as these who will help make Britain what it can be today. FEEL THAT BEAT, YOU LEADERS OF GOVERNMENT, feel it within your soul, FOR IT IS THE BEAT OF EACH FAMILES HEART in this country.

But the beat of so many hearts grow fainter by the hour as we face much adversity today, both at home and abroad. LISTEN AND LEARN from the mistakes previously made, TAKE BOLD STEPS to right injustice, and speak the truth if you dare, the truth that we in this country so desperately wish to hear, for there is no shame in saying SORRY! For by that very act of repentance you will redeem yourselves. BUT BEWARE THE FINGER THAT WRITES UPON THE WALL THIS MESSAGE! STOP AND THINK! ACT BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. TO LATE FOR YOU, AS A GOVERNMENT TODAY.

I have nothing but respect for our army commanders and officers who lead by example our brave hearts, as they face such troubled times through this present conflict and so many times stare death in the face. Brave men each one, BUT! Is such bravery equalled by just rewards?

Today I stand at the crossroads, the crossroads where truth and justice meet. I look to the left of me and see my own families, and our own communities’ heartache and pain. I look to the right of me and I see so many other grieving families and communities that too suffer that same heartache of despair, and mistrust of this Governments intentions.

To the rear of me I see only disaster, ill conceived ideas and plain stupidity, and so many failed promises to a nation, its people and its forces. Our protectors, the sons and daughters of Great Britain, sent around the world, in our name, in troubled times and adversity.

To the front of me I only see a road that is of exceeding darkness and fear as I view this world we live in today. A world that seems to have become lost, and overcome with injustice and greed, a world in which mankind is suffering from his own follies.

A world which to me seems full of disregard and no respect, and certainly there is little or no respect for our brave hearts from those who should be respecting them the most.

This respect is the self same respect and love I feel for Daniels many comrades and brothers in arms and this I also give to you, not only to the people of my community but also to those of this country who many times over have given me that self same respect. To the many local and national companies who have stood firmly and squarely alongside of me, and to the many people who also stand with me in faith, for our brave hearts, and it is that profound faith that keeps me going daily as I continue to prepare for Operation Braveheart to be able to take a stand for that truth and justice both now and in the future.
